Snow Down! Make someone’s day sports story!
Before the winter leaves, and it looks to be showing up In all sorts of places this year, (right southern California?), it’s time to focus on a newer winter sport, the second annual World Snow Sculpting Competition in Stillwater, Minnesota. This year’s championship was won by a local team for the first time, using over 10 tons of snow. But what makes this such a good news story is that one of the team members suffered a huge loss when a gallery burned down last year with all his artwork, reducing 2 years and $80,000 of work to nothing. Winning the snow sculpting competition provided some redemption. Said a teammate, “it was an amazing moment of triumph for him” as they beat teams from Germany, Finland, Canada, Argentina, Ecuador and Turkey. Can I say how cool?!
